IET Lifetime Achievement Award

What is it?

Launched in 2007, the IET Lifetime Achievement Award is the IET's highest accolade.  The recipient, named 'The IET Laureate', will be an individual from industry or academia who, in the opinion of the judges, has made the most significant personal contribution to developments in engineering or technology that have had demonstrable benefit for humankind.  Nominations are sought from all over the world and are judged for their world-wide impact.

The IET Lifetime Achievement Award enables the recipient to distribute £10,000 to each of five outstanding young engineering professionals for the purpose of accelerating or extending work that aims to benefit mankind.

Strong encouragement is given for an IET Laureate to select five outstanding young engineering professionals to whom the award money is to be given, such that they are from more than one country and from more than one engineering discipline, thus encouraging international collaboration and the exchange of ideas.
