IET launches new social networking site

02 December 2008

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the world’s leading society for engineers, scientists and technologists has launched a new social bookmarking site.

Called IET Discover, the site is a user-created information sharing and networking service for anyone interested in engineering, technology and science. Importantly, it’s free and is not just limited to IET members.

IET Discover consists of a social bookmarking service with tagging, where users can manage their online references, and links to interesting articles, and join collaborative groups. It opens up a world of knowledge from scientists and engineers from around the globe.

There are various other features, making this worth a trial if you’re involved in any way with engineering and technology.

Simon Thomson, IET Inspec director, said, “IET Discover is an innovative new tool, which enables those in the engineering and technology community to find, share and collect information, expertise and intelligence. It is unlike other services as its content has been selected recorded and ranked by those in the know; the members of the global, science and technology community.”
