History of Technology newsletters
The purpose of the IET History of Technology Network is to promote enthusiasm for and knowledge of the history of science, engineering and technology among IET members, students, the media and the wider public.
To achieve the History of Technology's (HoT) goals we:
- arrange lectures, meetings and other events within and outside the IET;
- advise the IET on matters relating to the history of technology
- help the IET Archives to research, record and preserve the history of technology
- assist in the collection of oral history material
- identify- as seek to preserve- relevant sites, records and artefacts at risk
- help the IET Archives to answer queries from members, the media and others
- support researchers, local history groups and others using the IET Archives
- encourages the publication of historical books and articles
- work with the IET Press Office on subjects of media interest
- produce regular newsletters on its own activities and key events in the field
Membership is open to IET members, academics, information professionals, regular visitors to the IET Archives and others interested in, or involved with, the history of technology in the UK and overseas.
